Zeroing in on the surge in passenger flow on the celebratory occasions of Diwali & Chhat Rush in the country, Northern Railway had drawn out highly structured arrangements to deal with crowds at ticketing centres, in trains and on platforms. Assigning primal importance to smooth operations and passenger convenience, General Manager, Northern Railway Shri A.K.Puthia undertook a personal inspection of Anand Vihar Mega Terminal, which has been upgraded with additional capacity to deal effectively with increased passenger volume and has thereby enabled to de-congest other mega terminals in the national capital area. Sh. Puthia was accompanied by the Principal Head of Departments of Northern Railway, Sh. Sanjiv Garg Chief Operating Manager, Sh. R.K. Agrawal Principal Chief Engineer, Sh. Anil Handa Chief Mechanical Engineer, Sh. Sanjay Kishore Chief Security Commissioner, Sh. Gyan Prakash Chief Commercial Manager.
Gearing up to the festive rush all prominent stations on Northern Railway rolled out detailed action plans and elaborate strategies. Going over the premises, the General Manager conducted an intensive check of the various infrastructure facilities at the mega terminal. He visited all the Platforms, Booking/Reservation window, holding areas, Passenger Amenities etc. He also visited the recently constructed two Island Platforms also which will enhance the operational capacity of this station to manifold. With the opening of 2 new Island platforms, the total number of platforms is seven for dealing both with the regular trains as well as the Specials planned. Most of the East bound regular and festival special trains have been announced and introduced from this sprawling terminal of NCR region and this would result into decongestion and smooth management of crowd moving out to their native places from Delhi Area during the current festival season.
